Wanderlust 2010s

Wanderlusts 1950 - 1959

By the 1950s Wanderlust’s format was well established – approximately A5 in size and mostly 4 pages, occasionally swelling with extra trip reports.

Content included trip reports, the social programme, Club notices, a personals column and of course the tramping programme.

In 1950 the Club acquired its own truck, which allowed new areas to be explored and greatly improved the journey to the Club’s new hut at Mt Ruapehu, Memorial Hut. So popular were the Club’s trips in this era that a second truck was acquired in 1955.

The 1950s featured considerable use of Memorial Hut, tramps every Sunday, regular weekend trips and an active social calendar.
